Gnarled Oak Tree Roots 5

These are the roots of an oak tree in Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA (where the scene of Forrest Gump sitting on the bench was filmed). Oak trees are protected in Savannah, and this is the one of the few if not the only city General Sherman did not burn, so many of these trees are hundreds of years old.

I love the roots on this tree in particular. I've been meaning to take pictures of them for the past year and finally got around to it. I always thought these roots would be a great stock photo to use as a background for fairies, woodland creatures, or whatever anyone could imagine.
